08 Dec BJJ in Springfield: State-Wide Support for Toy Drive Super Seminar!
On Saturday, December 6th, Performance Martial Arts Academy hosted a toy drive seminar to benefit the Toys for Tots organization. Aside from being the premier Academy for BJJ in Springfield, Performance Martial Arts Academy also focuses a lot of energy towards benefitting the local community. Toys for Tots, a United States Marine Corps charity, delivers toys to less fortunate families all over the country during the Holiday season. The Toy Drive Super Seminar featured four of Oregon’s most decorated grapplers teaching a 45 minute class each, over the course of three hours. The only cost of admission for the event was a new, un-opened, un-wrapped toy. Featured instructors were Professor Ben Baxter (Performance Martial Arts Academy), Sensei Andy Hung (Portland Judo),Professor Amanda Diggins (Straight Blast Gym), and Professor James Puopolo ( Salem-Keizer BJJ). With talent like this, all teaching BJJ in Springfield , on one day, a huge crowd amassed. Over 60 practitioners were on the mats, from as far away as Klamath Falls, Or.
The end result was a small moving truck full of brand new toys for kids who may not otherwise receive one this Christmas, and a bunch of super happy martial artists. What a win, win situation! Huge thank you to all of you who came out and all of the instructors!
