Eugene Martial ArtsAt Performance Martial Arts Academy, we have a wide variety of classes.  We have a program for you whether you have extensive experience or have never studied any martial art. We are your Springfield and Eugene martial arts headquarters!

We offer fundamental and advanced martial arts programs for children (ages 5-9 & ages 10-13) and adults (ages 14 and up).

It’s often said that children are the future.  At Performance Martial Arts Academy, we have children’s programs that focus on the principles and life-lessons of Judo and Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu.  Students will be introduced to the basics of self-defense and begining theories of both Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  Advanced students will be invited to join the Competition Team which will focus on a more tequnical skill set, allow for more practice time, and will prepare students for a chance to compete with other students at a state and national level.  Our mission is to provide a safe and fun way for our children to build confidence and learn the virtues of respect, hard work, and problem-solving.

Fundamentals is open to anyone, ages 14 and up.  Basic positions, movements, drills and theories of Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo will be introduced. This class is designed for new practitioners, but is also very effective for students who want to continuously improve their basic skills. It is recommended that even advanced students take this course to revisit and refine their skill set.

Advanced is designed to expand on basic concepts from the Fundamentals class. Students will progress into more advanced techniques, competition theory, and live sparring situations. World-class BJJ competitor, Ben Baxter, will guide you through a challenging and rewarding curriculum that is sure to advance your skill set.

In addition to our structured classes, we have open-mat training sessions where adult students can review instruction and technique from class, and get extra sparring experience. Higher-ranking members will be on-hand to provide guidance and answer questions.  All Adult class belt levels are welcome.

Performance Martial Arts Academy also offers  Judo Classes. Judo translates to “gentle way”.  The application of gentleness in Judo means adjusting and evading one’s attacker, causing them to lose balance, and ultimately their power.  This means a physically weaker person could overcome a bigger, stronger attacker.  Using an attacker’s strength against them will enable the defender to take them to the ground, apply proper leverage to control them, and ultimately force them into submission.

For those looking to practice without the Gi or prepare for Mixed Martial Arts Competition we also have NoGi Grappling. NoGi Submission Grappling, also called NoGi Submission Wrestling, is a popular alternative to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  It is similar to Jiu-Jitsu, but without wearing a gi (uniform), where the goal is to obtain a submission using submission holds. There are many No-Gi Grappling tournaments held locally, & throughout the Northwest, which has added to its popularity.  Come prepared to get a great workout, learn applicable self-defense skills, and have fun!

For those that prefer “stand up” martial arts, we offer Striking ClassesThese classes are designed to introduce basic footwork, timing, and combinations used in boxing and Muay Thai. From beginner to advanced, practitioners of all levels are welcome. Our striking program will expand and refine your skills.
